We are well on track to set plans and as early as 2021 the first Andfjord salmon can be served at restaurants, says chairman and founder Roy Bernt Pettersen.
The building of the first pool starts in June 2019. All contracts are signed and thus Andfjord Salmon follows the budget and plan for release of the first smolten in June 2020. The plant will have plenty of space in the facility. The aquaculture pool should be 30,000 cubic meters, ie 40 meters wide and 45 meters long. This makes the salmon pools the largest sea installations in the industry.
Leonard Nilsen & Sønner have been awarded the contract at the first construction stage. The pools will be filled with fresh Arctic seawater via magnetic propellers.
- Our method continuously supplies the plant with Atlantic water. The water is replaced 15-17 times a day. The fry will have the very best living conditions that few can compete with, Pettersen assures.
In the long term, the plan is for Andfjord to be self-sufficient with its own smolt.
