Christine Thomassen resigns from the position of department head in Åkerblå and starts in Andfjord Salmon in the New Year.
The company located on Andøya in Vesterålen has the ambition to write aquaculture history. Andfjord Salmon have developed a patented system for low energy salmon farming on land, offering salmon optimal conditions for fish welfare and fish health. Andfjord salmon cannot escape or be exposed to salmon lice or dangerous algae.
A salmon that thrives is a salmon that grows. Fish health is extremely important for Andfjord Salmon. That is why we are very happy that Christine has chosen to start with us. She already knows the company well, says Chairman Roy Bernt Pettersen. For Thomassen, Andfjord Salmon is not a new acquaintance. In the development of the concept and technology, Thomassen has been central to the process. Then as a senior consultant from Åkerblå's department in Vesterålen, one of the country's leading companies in the industry.
"Andfjord Salmon is a new initiative - and one of the most exciting I've been involved in. I had no plans to quit in Åkerblå, but when this opportunity came, I just couldn't let it go. I am very much looking forward to contributing with fish health expertise in this inspiring and evolving environment going forward, says Christine Thomassen.
Thomassen has worked in fish health for 24 years, trained as a veterinarian and starts in the new job on January 1, 2020.
